Ana ‘Argentina’ Castanos, 92, of Lawrence passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at home, peacefully in her sleep. Ana was born and educated in Santiago, Dominican Republic where she was a mathematics and science teacher for many years. She came to Lawrence in the late 60’s where she worked hard and served in her community helping others. She retired from Lucent Technologies after 20 years. Ana was a strong woman who had a heart of gold and was always looking for ways to bless others. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters and grandchildren. In her spare time she loved to play bingo with her friends and go shopping. She was passionate about cooking and preparing traditional Dominican meals for loved ones. She is survived by her daughter Mary and son-in-law Freddy Sanchez, of Methuen, her daughter Orelis Castanos of Atlanta, Ga. Her grandchildren Chastity Nixon, Wesley Mena, Natalie and Jessica Sanchez and four great grandchildren. As well as her brothers and sisters, Jorge, Nereida, and Fausto Castanos.
