Dagoberto I. "Dago" Ajanel, 48, of Lawrence passed away peacefully after his long courageous battle with Diabetes at Lahey Hospital on Thursday, January 3, 2019. He was born in Guatemala
he was the son of Dagoberto and Irma (Garcia) Ajanel and came to Lawrence at a young age of two years old. He attended Holy Rosary School and was a Greater Lawrence Technical High School graduate where he studied machine shop technologies.
Dagoberto had been a Lawrencian all his life, he loved watching sports and was an avid fan of the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics but his passion was soccer. He loved spending time with family, friends and loved to travel.
Dagoberto is survived by his parents Dagoberto and Irma Ajanel of Lawrence, his beloved wife of 30 years, Vilma (Valenzuela) Ajanel who was his whole world. His two daughters, Karisa J. Ajanel and her fiance Angel Monegro of Salem, NH, and Bryanna E. Ajanel, and his son David A. Ajanel both of Lawrence. His first grandson, Jaylen Monegro, who he adored. His two sisters, Ericka J. Liverett and her husband Brian Liverett of Lawrence, and Irma E. Arias and her husband and his good friend Edwin R. Arias of Greensboro, NC.
He also leaves his three nieces whom he loved dearly Monica M. Ibarra, Cynthia C. Ibarra and Sofia A. Arias. His aunts, Ilda Ajanel of Lawrence and Gloria Lopez de Marin from Guatemala. His cousins, Godchildren and wife's beloved extended family who were a great part of his life.
May he rest in peace in God's mercy and he will forever live in our hearts.
Friends may call Sunday, January 6, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at FARRAH FUNERAL HOME, 133 Lawrence Street, Lawrence, MA 01841. A funeral service will Monday at 10:00 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Lawrence. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence. In lieu of flowers friends can make donations to the family.
