Ruth Minchala

Ruth Minchala, 73, of Dorchester, MA, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston with her family at her bedside. Ruth was born and educated in Azogues, Ecuador. She was the daughter of the late, Luz Maria Narvaes and her husband, Angel Minchala. Ruth moved to Lawrence in 1972 and was employed as a fancy stitcher at Greico Brothers suit manufacturing. Ruth was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church at Corpus Christi Parish in Lawrence.

Family was everything to Ruth and she planned all celebrations, gatherings and parties for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family recalls that Ruth was a wonderful cook who specialized in Ecuadorian dishes. She enjoyed the ocean and took many long walks on Castle Island in Boston Harbor accompanied by her daughter Antiona. She also cherished a grandson Anthony, who called her daily and spoiled her in all ways as well a taking her for her favorite mashed potatoes at KFC. Ruth often too long weekend getaways with her son Felix and daughter in-law Nina and their children to Jackman, Maine.

Ruth was the widow of Carlos Campoverde and is survived by her children: Italia Coloma of Dorchester and her children, John, Evelyn and Jonathan; Edison Coloma of Boston and his children, Edison Sebastian and Edison Fernando; Antonia Arias of Lawrence and her children, Anthony, Yeomari and Yomanni; Felix Arias and his wife Antonina (Caruso) Arias of Methuen and their children Felix, Jr; Maggie, Miana and Adrian and daughter, Felicia Arias of Puerto Rico. In addition Ruth was blessed by 12 grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. She is also remembered by her special nephews whom she was close, Hector Pazmino of Lawrence, Julio Pazmino of Lawrence and Elias of Lowell and nieces Marina Molin of Ecuador and Cumanda Flores of Miami, Florida. 

A funeral Service will be held, Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at FARRAH FUNERAL HOME, 133 Lawrence Street, Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.

Friends may call Tuesday, may 14, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at FARRAH FUNERAL HOME.
