Amelia Fernandez, age 67, passed away peacefully August 25th, 2020 due to cancer. She was born June 17, 1953 in Santiago, Dominican Republic to Leonel Fernandez and Adeladia Tapia. Amelia and her partner, Juan Reynoso have been together for 35 years.
Amelia loved to love on people, but especially her 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Throughout the years she enjoyed fishing with her partner, listening to music and socializing with her friends. She also shared her love for music with her children. She loved life.
Her life was a living example of the Bible verse; Ephesians 4:32 — "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." She will always be remembered as a sweet, generous, courageous and delightful woman. She was the best mom and grandmother one could’ve ever asked for. She loved them dearly. She loved her son in laws, always showed them support and love. She always lit up the room with her smile, charisma and vibrant personality. For many years she was afraid of this day, but on this day she accepted to be at peace and free
of pain. John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."
Amelia is survived by several siblings who reside in Dominican Republic, Miguel Fernandez and Dioni Fernandez who reside in United States. Her two daughters and spouse, Griselda and Shawn Medina, Yudelca Rosa, and Anibal Lantigua; grandchildren, Daesha Figueroa, Vaellasha Lantigua, Jayden Howard and Tiana Lantigua plus her loving caretaker Joanna Acquino. All of them she loved and touched deeply.
To know her is to love her. She will be forever missed and loved.
