Antoine Karam Asmar, 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 27, 2020 at his home in Lawrence, MA after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on February, 5, 1949 in Debbieh, Lebanon to Karam and Lina (Hashem) Asmar.
Antoine came to the USA at age 18 years old to join his second cousin Thomas Bistany and his family in Methuen, MA in 1970 and was a well-known hairdresser for many years. In 1977, he helped the rest of his immediate family join him in the USA from Lebanon.
Antoine was married to Nada (Raad) Asmar in 1998 and was a devoted and amazing father to Elianne Marie Asmar, age 20. Antoine and Nada were happily married for 22 years. Antoine was a member of St. Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church of Lawrence, MA. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, doing hair, spending time with friends, watching sports and spending time with his family.
For the past three years Antoine was the chef at the Sandtrap Bar and Grill at the Merrimack Valley Golf Course. Prior to that, he worked for many years at Shadi’s Restaurant that is owned by his brother Michael Asmar and his wife Hind.
Antoine was preceded in death by his parents Karam and Lina Asmar. He is survived by his spouse Nada, his daughter Elianne of Lawrence, MA and his two brothers and their wives, Michael and Hind, Shaker and Gisele of Methuen, MA and his nieces, nephews, and cousins. Antoine is also survived by uncles, aunts, and cousins in Lebanon.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday October 1st, 2020 from 3:00 to 5:30 pm followed by a Liturgy Mass from 5:30 – 6:30 at St. Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church of 145 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA. Burial will be held on Friday October 2nd, 2020 in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at 11:00 am.
