Bechara Rizkallah, 70, of Methuen, MA passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Nevins
Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Bechara was born in Louaize, Lebanon, the son of the late
Hafiz and Marie (Bsaibes) Rizkallah. Bechara was a Captain in the Lebanese Army before
immigrating to the United States in 1986. In Lebanon he met the love of his life, Amal Abou
Ezzi, and they were married at St. Anthony’s Maronite Church of Lawrence, MA in November
1986. Together, Bechara and Amal, lived in Methuen, MA raising their two beloved daughters,
Christa and Leah Rizkallah.
Bechara is remembered as a man who greatly loved and sacrificed for his family. He enjoyed
dancing the dabke, walking on the beach with his wife, working in his garden, and endlessly
joking and laughing. Bechara proudly served in the Lebanese Army and had great love for his
home country, which he instilled in his children, nieces, and nephews. He was a deeply religious
man and a long-time parishioner of St. Anthony’s Maronite Church.
Bechara is survived by his wife of 37 years, Amal; his two daughters, Christa and Leah; sons-in-
law, Dean Levy and Liam Russell; two beautiful grandchildren, Lucas and Sienna Levy; his
mother-in-law, Sonia Abou Ezzi; and his in-laws, Michael and Betsy Abou Ezzi, George and
Mirna Abou Ezzi, and Ghassan and Grece Abou Ezzi.
In Lebanon, Bechara is survived by his brothers, Sammy Rizkallah, with his wife, Elham;
Raymond Rizkallah, with his wife Nidaa; and his sister-in-law Jeanette Rizkallah.
He is also survived by his godson, Marc Abou Ezzi, and his many nieces and nephews, whom he
adored.
He is predeceased by his parents, Hafiz and Marie (Bsaibes) Rizkallah, his brothers George and
Joseph Rizkallah, and his father-in-law, Antoine Abou Ezzi.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Church from 4:00 to 7:30 pm,
where Bechara will lie in state.
A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at St. Anthony’s Church on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Burial
will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery on North Lowell Street in Methuen, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bechara’s honor to St.
