Doel ("Junior") Francisco Candelario Garcia passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Boston Medical Center from complications of a long illness. He was born and educated in Guayama, Puerto Rico the son of Marta Irene Garcia Brenes ("Nery") and Doel Francisco Candelario Torres, who survive him. Junior, as everyone knew him, came to Lawrence when he was 19 years old. He worked for many years in the delicatessen at Demoulas Market later known as Market Basket on Essex Street. Junior played baseball in his early years and always wore the number 5. Junior loved to dance, especially Salsa. Enjoyed music and hosting family gatherings where he would run the grill. Junior loved eating sunflower seeds.
Junior is survived by his daughters, Sharon Marie Candelario Colon and her son, Yahir Gabriel Torres Candelario of Texas and Dolmarie Simmonds and her husband, SGT First Class Lucas Simmonds, US Army and their children, Ethan Simmonds and Elijah Simmonds of Texas.
He is also survived by his parents, Marta Irene Garcia Brenes ("Nery") and Doel Francisco Candelario Torres both of Guayama, Puerto Rico. Two sisters, Sandra Ivelisses Candelario Garcia and her husband, Julio Padilla of Lawrence and Gloria De Jesus of Connecticut. Brothers, Carlos Ruben Candelario Garcia of Methuen, Sabad Urbina of Haverhill, Michael Pedroza ("Piru") of Lawrence and Doel Francisco Candelario ("Doelito"). Junior was blessed with several nieces and nephews.
