Edward T. Coorey passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 after a brief battle with Covid 19. Eddie was born in Lawrence, the son of the late Nicholas Coorey and Adele (Harb) Coorey. He was a devout parishioner of St. Anthony Maronite Church in Lawrence. Eddie resided most of his life in Lawrence before moving to Hampton, NH. Eddie vacationed regularly at his West Palm Beach, FL winter home. Eddie attended Lawrence Schools and was a 1956 graduate of Lawrence High School and Bentley College. Eddie served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea.
A public accountant, Eddie and his friend John Remillard formed the accounting firm of Remillard and Coorey and they maintained an office in downtown Lawrence. In later years, he practiced out of his office in Stratham, NH. Eddie earned a reputation of confidence, trust and respect. He had a unique ability to relate to people from all walks of life - from the most successful of business men and women to the poorest of people, from the highly educated to the uninformed immigrant, from childhood friends and neighbors to walk-in strangers, those who had heard and learned of his compassion and decency. Those of us who knew him can relate to his "little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love".
But it was not just about work; a sports enthusiast - he enjoyed swimming, Rockingham Park and the Celtics; a music lover - for him it was "modern" jazz and Ella and Frank; a political junkie - he would wear you down; history and heritage - it was all about Lebanon; friends - giving, sharing, listening, confiding; and ... family.
Eddie was predeceased by his wife Geraldine (Boddy) (Woekel) Coorey and is survived by their two sons, Bryan Coorey and Jay Coorey and a granddaughter Madelyn Coorey. He also leaves behind step children Ralph Woekel, Gannon Woekel, Todd Woekel and his wife Lauren, Joseph Woekel and his wife Kathy and Melinda O'Hearn. He is also survived by his two closest friends brothers, Alfred Coorey and Paul Coorey and his nephew Douglas Coorey and his niece Patricia Coorey.
Funeral service will be private.
