Helen A. Rage

Helen A. Rage, of Salem, passed away at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill following a brief illness. Helen was born in Lawrence, MA, the daughter of the late Peter Michael Ackarey and Nellie (Dow) Ackarey. A lifelong parishioner of St. Anthony Maronite Church in Lawrence, she graduated from St. Mary High School in Lawrence. In 1957 she married Anthony Rage and together they made their home in Salem that year. Soon the family grew to 6 with the births of their children. Anthony passed away in 2008.
Helen worked as a legal secretary to the Honorable James Sayer in Salem for more than 25 years. She then established "Smokers Corner" in Salem from 1977 to 1992 then she joined her son at Charles Rage Jewelers and Pelham Resort until her retirement at the age of 79.
Her family was the most important thing in her life. She is remembered as being a wonderful Lebanese cook who opened her home to anyone in need. Helen loved the beach the Red Sox and the parishioners and clergy of St. Anthony's church.
Helen is survived by her children, Barbara R. Pappas of Salem, NH; Toni R. McKone, and her husband Bill of Windham, NH; Susan R. Southworth, and her husband Ray of Exeter, NH and Charles A. Rage and his wife Jackie of Hampton, NH. Grandchildren, Courtney A. Southworth - Kreyche, and her husband  Philip, Elena C. McKone, Erin E. McKone Saldivar and her husband Michael, Sean L. Southworth and his wife Emily, Alexia M. Rage, Nicholas S. Pappas, Anthony C. Rage, Lauren M. Rage and Colin J. Rage. 
Great Grandchildren, Chase L. Southworth and Elliot McKone Saldivar.
Helen is also survived by siblings, Barbara Panto and her husband Anthony of Salem, Michael Ackarey and his wife Georgette of Salem, Mrs. Noreen T. Murphy of Haverhill and Mrs. Jean M. Foley of Andover. In addition she is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Helen will lie in state on Sunday, July 10, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury St; Lawrence, MA. A funeral liturgy will be offered, Monday, July 11, 2002 at 10:00 am at St. Anthony Church. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Methuen.
