Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and aunt, Iris Milagros Torres, 69, passed away at
Mary Immaculate on Wednesday, November 8, 2022 in Lawrence. She was born on August 21, 1952
in Arroyo, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Andrés Torres de Cagua and Cecilia Torres de
Arroyo. Iris lived in Arroyo for 14 years with her 15 brothers and sisters. She came to Lawrence
pregnant with her first child, Francisco Torres, 53. Her second child is José Antonio Torres, 49, and
her only daughter is Nilsa Ivette Nieves, 46. Her life was dedicated to her children.
Iris will be remembered for her sociability and infectious laughter. She loved spending time at home
with her children, siblings, and friends, listening to her favorite music, dancing and laughing. In her
youth she enjoyed going dancing with her closest sister, Marta, with whom she had a strong bond.
For the last 7 years, she lived with her daughter and her daughter's loving husband, Jose Feliciano
Nieves. Their home was full of humor and plenty of love. There she got to spend time with her
grandsons, Enz Niam Nieves and Oziah Amin Nieves. Their family brought her much happiness and
joy, and they all created a deep bond with her. Her last years were spent surrounded by family.
In the last 5 years her son, Francisco, reconciled with her and built a fruitful and loving connection
that turned into a healing experience for both. She also reconnected with her estranged mother,
something she had always wanted all her life.
Iris was in and out of the hospital for the past few years, and although she had many illnesses, her
bright and indominable spirit never dimmed. Let us remember her for the kind, generous and
selfless person she was. One who held no grudges and loved unconditionally, no matter the obstacles
she faced. Let's learn this from her and love one another this day and all our remaining days.
Iris is survived by the aforementioned above and her brothers Enrique Torres and Miguel Torres;
sisters Constancia Santell, Marta Rivera, Myrna Torres and Geneva Valentin; daughter-in-law Elsy
Carolina Torres and grandson Marcus Solomon Torres; and many nieces and nephews.
May she move into the next phase of her existence with grace and in peace.

Nuestra querida madre, abuela, hermana, prima y tía, Iris Milagros Torres, de 69 años, falleció en
María Inmaculada el miércoles 8 de noviembre de 2022 en Lawrence. Nació el 21 de agosto de 1952
en Arroyo, Puerto Rico, hija del fallecido Andrés Torres de Cagua y Cecilia Torres de Arroyo. Iris
vivió en Arroyo durante 14 años con sus 15 hermanos y hermanas. Llegó a Lawrence embarazada de
su primer hijo, Francisco Torres, de 53 años. Su segundo hijo es José Antonio Torres, de 49 años, y
su única hija es Nilsa Ivette Nieves, de 46. Su vida estuvo dedicada a sus hijos.
Iris será recordada por su sociabilidad y risa contagiosa. Le encantaba pasar tiempo en casa con sus
hijos, hermanos y amigos, escuchar su música favorita, bailar y reír. En su juventud le gustaba ir a
bailar con su hermana más cercana, Marta, con quien tenía un fuerte vínculo.
Durante los últimos 7 años, vivió con su hija y el amado esposo de su hija, José Feliciano Nieves. Su
casa estaba llena de humor y mucho amor. Allí pasó tiempo con sus nietos, Enz Niam Nieves y Oziah
Amin Nieves. Su familia le trajo mucha felicidad y alegría, y todos crearon un profundo vínculo con
ella. Losúltimos años los pasé rodeados de familia.
En los últimos 5 años su hijo, Francisco, se reconcilió con ella y construyó una conexión fructífera y
amorosa que se convirtió en una experiencia sanadora para ambos. También se reconectó con su
madre separada, algo que siempre había querido toda su vida.
Iris estuvo entrando y saliendo del hospital durante los últimos años, y aunque tenía muchas
enfermedades, su espíritu brillante e indominable nunca se atenuó. Recordémosla por la persona
amable, generosa y desinteresada que fue. Una que no guardaba rencor y amaba
incondicionalmente, sin importar los obstáculos que enfrentara. Aprendamos esto de ella y
amémonos unos a otros este día y todos nuestros días restantes.
A Iris le sobreviven los mencionados anteriormente y sus hermanos Enrique Torres y Miguel Torres;
sus hermanas Constancia Santell, Marta Rivera, Myrna Torres y Geneva Valentin; su nuera Elsy
Carolina Torres y su nieto Marcus Solomon Torres; y muchos sobrinos.
Que ella pase a la siguiente fase de su existencia con gracia y en paz.
