Leila Fakhoury, 79 of North Andover passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Leila was born in Damascus, Syria, the daughter of the late Jamil Fakhoury and his wife, Antoinette Shaghoury. Leila graduated from high school in Damascus and worked as the head accountant at The Syrian Commercial Bank. She married Antoine Ghosen in 1966 and together they lived in Lattakia, Syria where they raised their three children. In 2017 they moved to North Andover. Leila is remembered as a woman who enjoyed reading, cooking and sewing. Mostly she loved her children and grandchildren.
Leila was a deeply religious woman who was a parishioner of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Lawrence, MA and the Lady of Lattakia Maronite Catholic Church in Lattakia, Syria.
Leila is survived by her husband of 57 years, Antoine Ghosen of North Andover.
One son, Fady Ghosen and his wife, Anna Yakoub of Lattakia, Syria and daughters, Rania Ghosen, MD of Damascus, Syria and Roula Ghosen - Zaza, DMD and her husband, Bassil Zaza of North Andover, MA. Grandchildren, Natalie Ghosen of Lattakia, Syria, Tony Ghosen, of Lattakia, Syria, Danielle Zaza of North Andover and Michelle Zaza of North Andover.
In addition, Leila is survived by siblings, Josef Fakhoury and his wife, Lina of Lattakia, Syria, Souad Fakhoury of Damascus, Syria, Hayat Fahkoury and her husband, Farid Mitri of Saskatchewan, Canada and Issam Fakhoury and his wife, Bassima of Damascus, Syria. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Liturgy will be offered, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11:30 am at St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 145 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Methuen.
Friends may call Saturday, August 19, 2023, at St. Anthony Church from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, where Leila will lie in state.
