Luz Brito de Gonzalez Obituary

Luz Esther Brito de Gonzalez passed away on November 3, 2021 in the arms of her daughter, Geni Esther Gonzalez, in Alexandria, VA.

She was born on December 3, 1938, in Sabana De La Mar, Dominican Republic. Her parents and grandparents, Ana Teresa de Brito, Ana Maria Brito, Julian Kelly, and Alejandro Brito, loved her very much. Luz’s aunt and uncle, Reverend Isaac Brito and Aurora Brito played a major role in Luz’s life, as Luz spent the majority of her childhood and young life living with them. She had various loving cousins, aunts and uncles.

After graduating from high school, Luz attended college at Colegio Evangelico in Santiago, Dominican Republic where she majored in Teacher Education and minored in Accounting. She met the love of her life, Reverend Isaias R. Gonzalez within those years. Soon after graduating college, she returned home and taught middle school for a couple years before getting married and transferring her life to the United States, where she then lived and completed her elementary school teaching career until retirement at the age of 64. Most of her years were lived and spent in the city of Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Luz was an active member of the First Spanish Free Methodist Church in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where she assisted as a pastoral wife and worked greatly within the Christian education and children’s department.

Her interests included family, crocheting, singing, children activities, acting and drama, and loved watching baseball. She devoted much of her time and energy spending time with her family including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren until she passed away at age 82.

Luz is survived by her 5 children: Jesse Gonzalez and his spouse Yannira Gonzalez, Keila Esther Maldonado, Josias Gonzalez, Geni Esther Gonzalez, and Isaiah Gonzalez, Jr., and her 5 grandchildren, Ishmael Gonzalez and spouse Megan Gonzalez, Janai Esther Ruiz, Lisandra Esther Ruiz, Emily Delilah Maldonado, Kristina Ysabel Maldonado, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Revelation 2:10 is a Bible verse Luz always mentioned and left for everyone to remember where it says, “…. be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”
