Noha Maroon Obituary

Noha (El-Kareh) Maroon, age 83, was reunited in heaven with her husband Maroon Said (Ronald) Maroon on May 19, 2020 after twenty-one years apart. Noha was born in Chiyah Lebanon on January 7, 1937, the 2nd youngest daughter of Khalil & Adele El-Kareh, and was one of nine children. She loved sharing her childhood memories of Lebanon with the family. She was honored when her mother asked her to assist with the kitchen duties for her large family and spoke often of the incredible preparation and preservation of family recipes. Noha’s love for food and family only grew after she immigrated to the United States in the early fifties and married “Ronnie,” the love of her life, on May 15, 1959. She enjoyed working in her garden and picking fresh grape leaves, squash, and cabbage which she used to create the most delicious food. For many years, she was the proud owner of Noha’s Ark Restaurant on Broadway Street in Lawrence and loved serving her family’s famous Lebanese dishes to customers who quickly became part of her extended family. Noha’s home was a central meeting spot and the location for many family events which included loud voices, delicious food, and a secret junk drawer for her grandkids to steal treats from. Family gatherings always turned into a party as she could whip up a full course meal in an instant, and Noha relished in making everyone in the room laugh. She loved her family from the bottom of her heart. A true angel on earth, our hope is that she is at peace and sharing eternity with loved ones including her son Joseph who recently passed away on May 20, 2020.
Noha is survived by three children, Dr. Michael Maroon & his wife Deborah (Foye) of Berlin, CT.; Teresa (Maroon) Bowles & her husband George of Lowell, MA.; Peter Maroon of Parrish, FL.; her daughter-in-law, Lisa (Gallo) Maroon; and seven grandchildren, Michelle, Christine, Nicole, Nicholas, Courtney, Krista, and Brittney.
A private burial service is planned at St. Anthony’s Maronite Cemetery in Methuen, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a tribute donation in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, https://act.alz.org.
