Sophie Agnes (Saad) Dodge

Sophie Agnes Saad Dodge
Aug 27, 1930 – July 15, 2022

Sophie was born in Lawrence MA and grew up in a family of four girls. She graduated from Lawrence
High School and moved to Washington DC where she worked and in corporate America. She married
Richard Dodge in the 70’s while working at the American Institute of Biological Sciences. While with
AIBS she travelled extensively. Sophie and Richard moved to Ridgecrest California in the early 70’s, and
Sophie immediately engaged in the local community. She worked for Desert Counseling as director and
supervisor of administrative services. It was while working here she realized there was a need for more
than employment services and opened her own business in 1987, SASS offering secretarial services to
include payroll, and accounting services, employment placement, notary services, and drug testing for
the community. Sophie owned SASS until the day she passed, which was on the anniversary of SASS’ 35 th
anniversary.
Sophie obtained her Associates degree from Cerro Coso Community College while living in Ridgecrest.
Sophie was active on the Cerro Coso College accreditation program. Sophie was active in the
community and became a Charter Member of the Chamber of Commerce and served as Chamber
President. She was on the United Way board of directors and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
advisor. She received an FBLA award for her business. Sophie was active in Altrusa and served as
Altrusa President.
Sophie and her husband started a Pistachio Farm while in California in addition to raising, training, and
racing Greyhound dogs. Sophie has had a love of dogs her whole life. Sophie is a staunch conservative
and was active in numerous political activities.
The lure of home brought Sophie and her husband back to New England where they settled in Seabrook,
NH. Her desire to be closer to her family was the driving force. Sophie was an excellent cook and liked
to host holiday parties. She especially enjoyed family visits. Sophie is survived by her daughter, Katie
Messer of Orange Park, Florida; son Richard Dodge, Jr and his wife Stacey of Sonora, California;
granddaughter, Rori Wylie and her husband Jordan, also of Sonora; grandsons Kyle Dodge and his wife
Daniele of Hollister, California; Grant Dodge and his wife Claire of Reno Nevada; Captain Michael Danko
and wife Kaitlyn of Copperas Cove, Texas. She is also survived by her four great grandsons and one great
granddaughter, along with numerous nieces and nephews and their family in the New Hampshire and
Massachusetts area.

Sophie will be entombed beside Richard on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Cemetery, North Lowell Street, Methuen, MA 01844.
